Timeless Boom Bap

For killer beats, all you really need is a heavy kick and snare—the true essence of Boom Bap. It’s this iconic sound, originally distilled from the SP-1200 sampler, that defined the early East Coast hip-hop production of Premier, Nas, KRS-One and many more. Timeless Boom Bap, as produced by electronic musician John Tejada, blends together the early rawness of East Coast hip-hop with modern production aesthetics and trap influences. Prior to his career as an era-defining techno producer, Tejada started out in the world of hip-hop, making beats and samples, as well as cutting his own tracks. Drawing from this part of his career, Tejada employs the SP-1200, along with newer DSP tools, to give the loops flavor, crunch, and maximum impact.
