Future Boom Bap Drums Vol. 3

The Future Boom Bap Drums series returns with 31 complete drum kits that keep the knock and swing of classic boom bap and push it forward with heavy, knocking kicks, delay-soaked hats, lo-fi snares and strange textures that sound like they came from a dusty tape at midnight. Every sound was made in the Jade Tree studio. Drums and percussion were recorded live, then layered with my own digital samples so each hit has real-room character and still cuts through a modern mix. The keyed synth stabs and tones were all recorded from my OB-6, which gives the pack some warm analog color that sits right on top of the drums. Each kit is built around its own tempo and has a full drum loop plus a curated set of one-shots, so you can drop the groove in as-is or flip the pieces into your own pattern. You'll find deep, punchy, gritty and knocking kicks; roomy, cracking, dusty and layered snares; crisp, chunky and delayed hats; and wide, dark and reverb-tailed claps. There's also ear-candy FX (night insects, tape reverses, vinyl scratches, etc) to give your beats some grit. The pack runs from 82 to 95 BPM, the sweet spot for head-nod hip hop, lo-fi, jazz rap and left-field beats. Producers who want drums that hit hard and still feel a little off-grid and alive will get the most out of it.
